I am not entirely certain I can reduce my experience here into words properly. T.Rex is simply one of the best meals I have had in a long time. From the flavors to the execution of the dishes to intimate space and particularly the witty banter with it's staff. There was no aspect of this experience that was over looked. The space is clever and they utilize it so well. There are many clever details that make it an entertaining experience. My biggest regret is that I do not live in Houston anymore and will not have the chance to be back any time soon. Congrats to everyone involved for a truly next level experience. The staff is ridiculously accommodating, fun and happily put up with our boisterous obnoxious good time group (5 can be a tight fit in the corner tables for 4 but it just makes it more fun). They encouraged us to drink some "White Hot Liquid Licorice Lightning" (or something like that) and those that took them up on it were pleased they did. I'd talk more about the specific dishes but I expect they will change so frequently it would be counter productive to do so. Everyone was very pleased with the wine list options (not a drinker so I cannot comment). If the donut looking pastry in my pictures is on the menu get it.

Very cozy spot. Not much noise, so it's a great place to enjoy a good dinner and conversation with someone. The food is incredible - definitely among the best I've ever tasted. Chef Yu does complex flavor combinations exceptionally well. The wait staff is also fantastic. They're a very friendly and welcoming bunch, and the level of service we received hasn't been matched anywhere in my experience. It isn't a type of service that makes you feel like pretentious/uptight. It's more of a friendly/happy/down-to-earth type of service. Overall, excellent experience on all fronts. Great job. I'll be back.

The space is tastefully done and intimate, the food is delicious and service is attentive. Great wine list. It is a much needed break from the large, loud and corporate Houston restaurant scene.
