From SF Baking Institute founder Michel Suas comes this Castro bakery/cafe combo turning out "top-notch" loaves, "tasty sandwiches" and "amazing" pastries, all for "reasonable" dough; it's a thoroughly "nice spot to take a break" and refuel either in the "cool open" interior or on a back patio "surrounded by trees."

Hidden gem and easy for your average person to walk by. Outdoor back patio is quiet and refreshing. I recommend a trip across the street to the bookstore first to pickup a nice read while you enjoy a drink.

I come here all the time. I'll let you know when I find a better patisserie in SF--so far, no dice. Top choice for baked goods, with a cute backyard area.

By far my favorite coffee shop/bakery in the area. Baked goods are amazing, sandwiches are fresh, coffee can't be beat (Sightglass). Back patio is a gem with limited seating and an absolute getaway from the city outside. Bring a friend, grab a cappuccino and relax out back - you won't want to go anywhere else.
