The Zagat Review
Coal-fired NY- and New Haven–style pies are the main attractions at this "takeaway" North Beach pizza parlor via namesake chef Tony Gemignani that adjoins his Napoletana outpost next door; there’s no seating, but usually "no wait" , so many consume their orders across the street in Washington Square Park.

Good pizza, poor customer service. Doing laundry up the street and I need dinner. Walk down here the first time. No line, two registers. The chick won’t take my order and I wait a couple minutes for some other guy to take my order. I order a slice of four cheese ($5.50) and pepperoni (5.50). Total $12.26. He asks me if it’s to go, I say yes. Then if I want plates or a box. I say a box of course. Keep your receipt as they just call numbers. They place my two slices up on the counter on plates. I ask for them to put it in a box for me, instead they just hand me a box and I put it in there myself.

Really good Pizza, beer, and wings! We got seated right away and customer service was excellent. This place also have the best blue cheese dressing I ever had in my whole life. I haven't been able to find anything to compare it to. I will definitely be going back the next time I'm in California.

The Second street location has more pizza and pasta options, as well as much better parking options! But the staff at the North Beach location are fast and capable, and surprisingly often friendly, considering the kinds of less than friendly people they often serve all day. And Tony's Slices are worth any amount of inconvenience you'll ever encounter for a slice of the best pizza I have tasted on the West Coast. I wish there was a location in Sacramento, but my waistline is thankful that's not the case (yet?) TRY THIS PLACE, and you'll have your new favorite pizza to eat.
