Trattoria Contadina
Unfussy place for classic Italian fare
Italian · North Beach · $$
The Zagat Review
"Out of the way" from "tourist-heavy Columbus" Avenue, this "cheerful" North Beach "classic" "is where the locals go" to enjoy "unpretentious" , "old-school" Italian standards (including "housemade gnocchi" and "delicious pasta sauces" ) for "little money" ; staffers provide "pleasant service" , but since the "cozy" quarters can get "crowded" , regulars say make a "reservation" or "eat at the bar to skip the wait."

What an amazing place to get some good Italian food! Hands down the best Italian food I’ve ever had and such a cute little venue! The type of place where once you’ve discovered it, you will consider it your special little spot and go-to place to take your sweetheart. It’s our first time visiting San Francisco and we wanted to find a nice local spot with some good food and we really hit the jackpot! The service was fantastic and the food is to die for! The sauce was so creamy and addictive, the chicken seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the vegetables were steamed to a perfect balance of soft and crunchy. It was delicious! Everything from the the food, location, the wait staff, and fun decor made for the perfect dining experience! You have to check this place out!

This is some of the best Italian food, when they say spicy... It's spicy but doesn't kill the flavor and you can taste the other spices. The appetizers are excellent and as good as the main course. This place has a good atmosphere, the staff is very friendly and lemon cello tastes like it's imported from Italy like they just flew it over.

Very nice Italian restaurant in a great atmosphere. One of the best places for home made pasta. Everything is good from entrée to dessert. The vine is also great. Close to a cable car stop that's a big plus! Make sure to stop by this restaurant If you come to SF!
