Take "a step back in time" at this circa-1856 French Quarter "treasure" , where the "classic" five-course Creole prix fixe dinner is "augmented by an imaginative [à la carte] menu" ; "service is impeccable" in the "handsome" , "old high-ceilinged dining room" (and "historic" stand-up bar), and fans recommend "a classic grasshopper cocktail" in the place where it was reportedly created.

Conveniently located around the main attractions in New Orleans. We did a reservation for our New Year’s Eve dinner, but we still had to wait for one hour past our reservation. The bar and the restaurant were full, so we enjoyed a couple of drinks at the bar while waiting. Drinks were very good! No place to seat at the bar. Considering the crowd around New Orleans for New Year and how cold it was outside, not too bad. Good thing that Tujague’s was very close to the place to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks as it was a very cold night and being so close to the river did not help.

Even though we made reservations, we still had a long wait. It was Thanksgiving, so we couldn't easily find another place to eat. After we got seated, the manager did comp us a bottle of sparkling wine which was the highlight of the meal. It was a set menu. By the time were seated, they were out of the dish my husband wanted. The food we got was ok. The bread pudding was very good though. Our server was cordial, but not friendly. We were a party of 2 and they added an over 20% tip. I had to argue with our server to have it removed. We regularly visit New Orleans. We won't eat here again or recommend it.

Eating here for our group was a little more upscale pricewise than other places we went. Items we ordered were the Pecan Drum, double cut pork chop and the brisket. All were nice portions, nice presentations, and all in our group were happy with flavors. We were happily created and the service was fantastic. Would visit here again.
