It’s “always an adventure for the palate” at chef Tyson Cole’s Montrose outpost of his Austin original, plating “sushi creations” that are “music in your mouth” plus plenty of other “innovative, delectable” Japanese options that don’t involve raw fish; the scene – amid soft lighting and warm woods – is “impossibly hip” , and the tabs are "expensive" but "worth it" ; P.S. it’s “hard to get a reservation” because most of the seats are saved for walk-ins.

It is a great Vegetarian/Vegan Japanese cuisine! Our experience with the restaurant is awesome. We selected many vegetarian items which were served on Wooden planks with bite size quantities. My daughter and son-in-law treated me and my wife Father's day, which is amazing unforgettable experience. One should visit and enjoy the food and drinks they serve. On a scale of 1 to 4, one being 'bad' and 4 being 'best' ...I rate '4'!

Love this place. Raw and cooked food both super-high quality and creative, not just copying other brand name sushi spots. Service has always been great- knowledgeable, professional, friendly. Be sure to ask your waiter for recommendations, as there are delicious, interesting menu items that don't necessarily jump out at you. Atmosphere very nice, not stuffy at all. Have eaten at sushi bar, wine bar, and tables, and had great experience with each.

I left wanting to come back right away! Typical of any of Hugo's restaurants, the service is excellent and the food is even better. I can't wait until I go back to continue my discovery of such awesome and unique cuisine. This is truly a must stop for any one looking for some of Houston's best food offerings.
