Service

A modern-rustic setting with two lively bars and patio seating provide the backdrop for this "popular" Gaslamp "hot spot" (with a sister spot in Encinitas) serving "creative" American cuisine with a Southern bent alongside "quality beers" ; the "bustling" atmosphere appeals to a young crowd of tourists and locals who don’t mind if bills can be "a bit expensive."

I had a great experience here! The food was delicious, the service was great, and the vibe was relaxed. The booths are very cozy. There were three of us and it didn't feel crowded. They had music playing, it was loud enough for everyone to hear it, but not too loud to where you have a hard time hearing the people at your table. The lighting is dim, so some people may need to use a light to assist in reading the menu. I have some eyesight trouble, and didn't have much trouble with the menu though. We're not from the area, so it was probably a one-time visit for us, but I'm so glad we chose Union! It was the perfect place to have dinner and catch up with a family member we haven't seen in a long time 💕

Good food and prompt service but it is a bit noisy. Good for both large and small groups. Nice rustic feel with an upper level. Sit outside on tables by the street or go upstairs for a different view. Bars are located both upstairs and down dio there is no issue of you want to order from the bar. Waitresses made the rounds but the larger the crowd the longer it takes them to make the rounds. Food was pretty good, although it was more warm than hot by the time I got it. Wire a few television screens had sports on the night I went. Good view of them from most places.

Very nice place with large terrace. Good service, affordable price and varied food. I do not eat fries and I can tell you that the fries of the Union are excellent! $5.95. The dry martini, if you are amateur, it's not the place, it tasted water. Happy hour from 2pm to 5pm and there was a guitarist when we went. We spent our New Year's Eve party. Super nice evening, DJ and dance floor. We danced all evening. Great atmosphere.
