The Zagat Review
An “incredible variety of flavors” from “delicate” to “spicy” emerges from the kitchen of this Murray Hill vegetarian Indian where the “authentic Gujarati” specialties come in an all-you-can-eat Thali format for $34; “caring” service and a transporting “village” setting complete the “totally unique experience.”

This place is all about its quirky decor and the surprise of the many small dishes with unlimited refills. Our server was super friendly and helpful, as she explained everything with love and answered our questions with lots of patience. I generally liked the food, though I didn't realize everything. I'd go back, as it's a fun change from time to time. It may be pricey if you aren't very hungry.

I first came here for my 27th birthday. It was a treat from my dad and I absolutely loved it. The interior decor is fantastic and the best part is that the it's a prix fixe 4-course menu where you pay one flat price for the ENTIRE MENU! You don't have to worry about choosing; you literally get to sample everything and can request more of one dish if you desire.

Offers a 3 course Prix fix menu for $34 per person. You get an appetizer plate, a plate with main courses, and a dessert. All are presented in an attractive way and you can ask for repeats of individual items you like. We have been going here for about 20 years. The service is generally attentive, and they ask preferences for spice level and allergies of each person at the table.. Consistent experience: The appetizers are excellent, well prepared, tasty and authentic. The main dishes and the dessert are so so. Quality and taste varies and several of the items on the last visit were not especially good. They also automatically added a 18% tip for a party of 4, which was a bit annoying since we prefer to tip based on service, and would probably have tipped at that level or higher anyway, given the quality of the service, but did not like to see this automatically added. Over the last 20 years their price has gone from about $20 per person to $34 , perhaps much more of an increase than comparable restaurants. The food quality for the main dishes may also be not quite as good. Suggested strategy: skip the min course and just ask for a second round of appetizers. Incidentally, on the last visit, I asked for a second helping of 2 of the appetizers, and it never came -- the main dish plate was served instead. The reason for the 3 star rating is the relative experience compared to past visits, and also the feeling that this restaurant is now quite overpriced.
