They are "doing things right" at this “consistently innovative” Rittenhouse "draw" , where "ambitious" , “playful twists" on American "staples” "provide wonderful and unexpected taste combinations" ; "of course, it's not cheap" and it "takes weeks to get a reservation" , but it's "no doubt" "totally worth" the time and money, with a staff that "takes service to a whole new level" and an “energetic yet intimate” , "once-bookstore-now-hip" space that draws crowds “like moths to light."

Vernick is the best overall meal in Philly! Great food and service. Highly recommend sitting at the chef's counter, or sit upstairs for a more formal dining experience. At times they can be generous with salt, but can tone it down if you ask.

We've been to Vernick 3 times in the last 3 years and it is always an amazing meal. Whatever you order will be fantastic and presented nicely. The atmosphere is cozy. I had my graduation dinner here and my family loved the meal (high standards). Make sure you make reservation far in advance though...we booked easily a month before going, rarely was there anything available within 1-2 weeks during a prime time.

Amazing food and outstanding service in a cozy atmosphere. When we made our reservation, the staff asked if it was for a special occasion. We said it was for our anniversary. When we sat down, our waitress immediately told us happy anniversary and poured us some complimentary champagne! The waitress kindly explained the menu to us (it's split up among vegetable, raw, small, large, and other plates) and when we made our selections, she easily suggested what plates should come out together and in what order, which showed how much she knew about the menu, because everything came out fantastic. We ordered six dishes and having just two come to the table at a time allowed us to enjoy each without feeling like we had to rush so our table wasn't overloaded with plates. The maryland crab toast was my favorite, but every dish was delicious and an appropriate serving. This meal definitely impressed me and I look forward to returning!
