The food was excellent. Staff was awesome. Mike is very knowledgeable and answered all of our outlandish questions. Only issue was the seats. The counter stools and bar stools we're pretty uncomfortable for the initial sit and some may or may not get used to it.

An amazing array of appetizers that I was lucky to try with our big group. Also, amazing cocktails. I had the lamb for two for entree but was just a little disappointed.

3 stars according to Google means "It's okay." And that is accurate. This special NYE occasion dinner was 'okay.' The flavor was almost there, but not quite. During our appetizers we both remarked how we couldn't initially tell if something was good before realizing it was just 'okay' (the smoked seaweed butter and white bean & squid ink dip could have been good). Every time I've had wood-grilled octopus at a good restaurant it's been amazing. However at Waypoint it was rubbery (overcooked). The sunchoke crema was a great touch, but not enough to overcome rubbery octopus. I was let down as I thought this dish would be the highlight of the evening. I will say that the Blue Crab and Angel Hair pasta was great (as well as the oysters I ordered from the raw bar). However overall, the meal was just 'okay.' I had a similar experience at Alden & Harlow, so maybe I shouldn't have been surprised.
