Westville Wall Street
Health-conscious American eatery
American · Financial District · $$
Popular with “young 20s and 30s” , these “local hangouts” dish out “New Wave” American “diner food” with an emphasis on “heavenly” market-fresh veggies that make them a “vegetarian’s paradise” ; they’re often “crowded” with “elbow-to-elbow” seating, but “value” prices keep the appeal high.

Mentioned I had food allergies and the waiter said it would be fine. They brought it out and then another waiter came over took the dressing because it was not dairy free and then came over again to take the entire salad away because they put the dressing on the salad. Total loss of communication with the staff. Didn't put me at ease at all.

The location of this restaurant is perfect. There are so many apartment buildings in the area with so few brunch spots but the food here is just mediocre. Tries to sell itself as a fresh place with health conscious options but the corn used on my dish today was definitely canned and so were the mushrooms in my egg scramble previously. Furthermore, if you ask for any kind of substitution like add tomatoes to the omelet sandwich or Canadian bacon to the California eggs Benedict, it's just "too much for the chef to handle". But you can order the bacon as a side, they just won't put it on the actual dish. Absurd. That being said, the waitress today was incredible. I can't imagine how challenging it is to work at this place and please the customers. The system seems to be set up to do the exact opposite of that. Even with the restrictions to her ability to please her customers, she was great. Almost recruited her to work at a friends restaurant!
