West 70s · $$$
From chef April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman comes this whole-animal butcher shop and American restaurant on the Upper West Side, offering decisively meaty courses and seasonal plates, as well as an afternoon hot-dog happy hour. Since its opening, WG has become my go-to butcher for all of my meaty needs. The quality of their products is unquestionably top-notch, and the lovey staff is an added bonus. Plus, why go to the supermarket for meat/poultry if you can purchase it from a neighborhood butcher that knows exactly where it sources its products from? Sure, it may be a bit pricier, but you get what you pay for. They also have special items for order around holidays, and during the summer they have a well-stocked selection of meats, burgers and sausages ready for the grill.

I had heard so much about White Gold for dinner that my expectations were high. Went by myself. Only steak they were offering was a 20 oz ribeye for $80.00 Ended up ordering their hamburger, their famous fried potatoes and the snap peas. The burger was a huge disappointment.....I would take an $11 JG Melon burger over this $26 burger any day of the week. The potatoes were way over fried and were dark brown instead of the golden color I have seen in photos.... and the snap beans were not to my taste. It was nice of them to take the snap beans off of my bill when they saw I didn't eat them.

Not my thing. I get that some might love it. I did like the interior design alot. I got the chicken soup and it was super bland. The chopped cheese that everyone raves about could of been 100 times more, again not my thing others might love it. The staff is super friendly and upbeat.
