Willa Jean
Smart café with Southern fare & drinks
Southern American · CBD · $$
Housemade breads, biscuits and sweets provide the foundation for the Southern breakfast, lunch and brunch dishes at this CBD bakery from the Besh Restaurant Group. The bright, lofty space nods to the past with touches like 'Uneeda Biscuit' painted across the brick wall above the bar, which pours coffee, tea, cocktails and spiked slushies.

My pasta was superb, my partner enjoyed her dinner as well. The dishes were creative but not overdone or pretentious and all of the flavors balanced really well. Combine that with elegant presentation and great execution and it was great The dessert was "deconstructed," which can be a little hipper-than-thou, but again was executed well enough that didn't bother me. I would definitely return, but I would appreciate the restaurant portion being somehow separated from and made more intimate than how the space is when it opens. It feels too warehouse-y for what it is.

Yum! Came for brunch and sat at the counter. The staff was super friendly. They have coffee cocktails. Which let’s be real, when you’re in New Orleans is exactly what you need. My BF and I ordered the Hangover bowl and the Fried Chicken biscuit. Both were absolutely delicious. And the portions were super generous. Wasn’t able to finish the bowl despite how great the lamb and grits were because I just had to save room for this chocolate chip cookie. The sea salt on top plus the fact they warm it up for you is just divine. Top 5 chocolate chips cookies in my life for sure.

This place doesn't feel like the type of food you expect to find in New Orleans, but don't let that stop you from coming here. I had the meatloaf sandwich that is served with chips and it's pretty good. It would have been better had to come with french fries. I also tried The Salted chocolate chip cookie which was good but would have been better had it been warm.
