Wynkoop Brewing Company
Brewpub with creative fare & a pool hall
Brewery · LoDo · $$
Co-founded by Governor John Hickenlooper in 1988, this LoDo pioneer was Denver's first brewpub; in a sprawling, multilevel space complete with a pool hall, it continues to push boundaries with canned beers featuring local hops and even Rocky Mountain oysters, among other Wild Western twists. The kitchen likewise builds on the tried-and-true formula of affordable American taverns everywhere by adding homegrown flourishes: think IPA-battered fish and chips, elk sausages and, of course, bison burgers.

Nice service. Typical bar-grade food. Over-hyped. Burger was well overcooked. Coleslaw dry. Apple pie dessert also dry as if it had been left under a heat lamp for many hours. Beer samples are a charge. A craft Brewery should not charge for sampling the many beer options a customer is tasked with deciding between. Beer quality was decent and server made good efforts to help us enjoy the experience despite the poor food. There are better experiences in the Denver area.

This is a fantastic place for any type of dinner or drink your looking for. To start, the atmosphere here is fantastic. The ground floor if open and inviting with a nice bar off to one side and a great dinning room to the other. The downstairs is full of the beer making equipment and the offer tours though sometimes. The upstairs is a very unique environment, full of pool tables and other good bar games with a different bar as well so you don't have to go downstairs. Now for the food, the food was fantastic with great taste and very filling. The salmon burger was very good with a good helping of fries. Lastly the beer, I had the Patty's Chile beer and let me tell you it is one of the best beers I have ever had. Great taste and easy drinking. My one complaint would be the fact that the food did not hit the table at the same time. All in all a great dinning experience.

This place is amazing! The food was extraordinarily delicious, they had a wide selection of homebrewed beers, and the setting was genuinely fun. The music selection was rather eclectic, but overall very good, an enjoyable mix of classic rock (and some more contemporary rock), with some of the better pop and hip-hop. The top floor had a variety of arcade-type entertainment: billiards, air hockey, ski ball... While some of their beers were very good, my one complaint is that quite a few were flavored with pepper, not too bad, just not something I'm used to. Bottom line, whenever in Denver, make sure to stop at Wynkoop!
