Mediterranean meze in bustling setting
Mediterranean · Penn Quarter/Chinatown · $$
The Zagat Review
Featuring “exceptional, not overly expensive” small plates, José Andrés’ “one-of-a-kind” Penn Quarter Med hot spot is a “go-to” choice for everything from dining with out-of-towners to “impressing” a first date; its light, “airy” space and “sunny service” supply the “warm” backdrop for its “magic” mix of traditional and “inventive” meze, and the “bar scene is a hoot” , though it can be a “little too loud.”

I've only eaten here once but it was one of the best meals I've ever had. The lamb dish was phenomenal. I actually cried when I first tasted it. The place was especially busy when I went with my boyfriend and a friend. However when we sat at the bar, we figured we would just say there but a bar table opened up for us and a kind server quickly cleared it and sat us immediately. The service here was top notch, the wine, food, everything. I cannot say enough good things. I can't wait to come back here. Maybe for my birthday this year.

This was a very solid experience. Wasn't terribly busy when we stopped in, but we also must have hit it between shifts as it took a good hour long to get through 5 dishes. The bread service is immaculate. All the food we had was mostly delicious though some of the items had little taste. We got two dips and both were lackluster compared to plain olive oil. The labneh was some of the best I've ever had.

This restaurant is amazing. The Lebanese/middle Eastern food is wide- ranging and excellent. So many different dishes to choose from. The staff is super professional and knowledgeable. The restaurant has beautiful interiors but be aware that it's quite loud. A must if you're visiting DC and want to try one of its best restaurants.
