Le Grand Véfour

Fine Dining | 1st arrondissement

More than "200 years of history" are on display in this Haute Cuisine "jewel box" tucked away in the Palais-Royal: the neoclassical murals, gilt-framed mirrors and Directoire chairs are "evocative" of the legendary "literary figures" who have dined here – although the likes of Balzac, Colette and Hugo never tasted chef Guy Martin's "complex", "breakthrough" dishes; service is "formal" but the staff is "congenial" and "adaptable", making every diner "feel like a visiting duke" or duchess, so just "close your eyes and pay the check" (or try the "bargain lunch").
