Martin's Tavern

American | Georgetown

This “venerable” Georgetown tavern offers a “line to the past” – it was frequented by Presidents Truman and Kennedy, and countless pols – as well as “great burgers” and “excellent martinis”, all served in a “booming”, circa-1933 saloon; the menu features a trove of “old-school standbys” (oyster stew, hot browns, welsh rarebit), though many are content to “go for the history” alone.
