Willie Mae's Scotch House

Soul Food | Treme

"You have not had soul food" until you have eaten at this "old-style" Treme "legend", where the namesake's granddaughter cooks up "juicy, tender" fried chicken that's "to die for" and "piles on sides like mashed potatoes, biscuits, veggies" and "spicy" red beans and rice for "the perfect Southern meal"; the cozy setting offers "lots of character" but limited space, so there's "usually a line" – luckily, the "efficient, polite" staff ensures it "moves pretty quick"; P.S. it's "a trek from the Quarter" so "take a cab."
